the Second CNCSHC Hike

The second CNCSHC hike was held on November 25, 2007 at the Uwharrie National Forest (http://www.cs.unca.edu/nfsnc/recreation/uwharrie/) on the Badin Lake Hiking Trail. This trail is a loop trail that follows the shore of Badin Lake for half its distance, then loops back through hardwood forest to Cove Boat Ramp. The trail length is 5.6 miles. Although the trail difficulty was rated "easy" (apparently due to its relatively mild elevation changes), it wasn't always very kind to our human hikers' feet and ankles; the numerous rocks and holes along most of the trail caused a few turned ankles before we were done! Of course, the dogs had no problems! The hikers included Eugen, Silvia and Patrick Behr (with Jack, Lula and Ally, all in packs), Harold Barnhardt (with Libby wearing a pack), Joni and Adam Barnhardt (taking turns walking with Sophie, not wearing a pack and not pictured below), and Lindsey and Karl Prinsep (with Zara and Odin, both in packs).

The end of the trail!
